druidess6308: We've had some...had our first snow on Halloween. Last week it went from 20F to 70F, and is currently around 30-40F...crazy weather. We've had snow, and we've had summer...sometimes within days of each other. Typically, though, it starts to get really bitter in January and February...and that's when I start praying Spring comes soon, and making my gardening plans for the season.

Wow not bad Drui many here espessially back East, have 8 months of winter.
Records this year so far, (winter has just started boys and girls) have been broken temperatures of 40+ below and not counting the wind factor.
Global warming eh? get me that Al Gore!D'oh!

buzzy: What ever happen to global warming? If the globe is warming then shouldn't that be rain? Were we hood-winked again? Were we lead to believe that so we would live in fear? Remember, a nation that lives in fear, spends more money.

I have been amazed, or is the word flabbergasted better, when I have heard so little lately about global warming.
Where is the weather on this planet much nicer than usual?
Not where I am living for sure.
Records of cold and snow have been broken big time.
Some going back to the 60th.

Where is Al Gore if you see him please ask him okay? D'oh!

druidess6308: It's been warm enough here that we've actually had very little winter, so I'm not thinking that much about Spring and Summer yet. I will later in January and in February if the bitter cold we typically get then hits, though.

I would have thought that you too would have had plenty of the stuff.
Not until January?
Well it started here already in November.
Mountains of the stuff when I look outside so I am not looking outside lol.
No wonder we have so many snowbirds taking of for Arizona and Florida for a few month in the winter time.

heidi2765: Reason I left Canada, that terrible white stuff, I enjoyed my first non-white Xmas for a long time. I can actually see green grass when I look out of the window.

When will the summer start??? Probably still more than 4 months away for you....meanwhile I am sending you sunshine and warmth from here.

Thank you, so nice of you to send me sunshine and warmth.
Are you telling me you are not getting that white stuff in Scotland?
Hopefully we will have an early spring.
March could be very nice but we won't know until it is here.
I already am happy to know that soon we can see that the days are longer, about February it will be noticeable.

guiriman: except i'm a brit...

but still have moments of charm, hen..

Ahhhh your bound to pick up some of their charms I am sure.
They Italians are good at cheating too. Don't pick up their bad habits though.
Leave their wives alone every night, as it is not macho to stay home with her, so he joins the other guys at the market square.
Oh I heard he does take out the little lady, twice a year.
Basta, basta, lol

cristina: Why that flower?

Why not that flower Christina was it wrong? Why?
Yeah I am craving many things.
I understand that smoked eel is not only expensive but now hard to find.
In Vancouver, only a 4 hour drive, I can buy raw herring that have been frozen, but taste good.
I can buy them here loaded in sooo much salt, they don't need freezing.
Croquetes I can buy here too, that is if I am willing to pay an unbelieveble price for them.

The lekker bekjes you can not send, olie bollen mix I can also only buy in Vancouver.

Your a sweetheart for being willing to send me things Christina.
Just would not know what.

I was thinking the other day about washandjes lol, are the Dutch not geniusses? They are so practica eh and hey Christine they make great presents if your looking for something different to give.
What I also liked is the peanut bakjes. One large dish for the nuts then a scoop in it and induvidual dishes, so no one has to use their fingers that have just been licked, into the main dish.

pretzelman: I would really like to visit Canada again someday. The last time I was there was in 1965, in Toronto

You were on the "wrong" side.
Depending what you like of course.
Personally I love the prairies, the open spaces.
British Columbia is mountainess.
Great large lakes and forest galore.
Good place to find out more is go to Googles tourisme and name the province you wish to visit.

pretzelman: Dear Lady friend....if you hate the snow, why do you remain in Canada?BTW...strawberries will soon be able to be picked in Florida!!

Well Pretzzelman I am supposed to be living in the best climate of Canada. Very close to my home is the only desert in Canada.
This year's snowfall is an exception.

Sparky55: Sorry, I haven't given much thought to strawberries unless I am using them as a garnish for a really hot woman.

What your using them strawberries for does not matter the fact that we are slowly heading to a more pleazant time the spring and summer, that is what matters.
We were given such a overload of snow and it has not yet ended. that I need to focus this mind of mine to something more pleazant than snow!

So enjoy your berries anyway you want and doing and enjoying them your way well all you need to do is head for the store. dancing

Bye the way; If I catch the person singing;
"Let it snow, let it snow"
We ain't friends no more!
Are you hearing me sweet things?
We have enough of this stuff to last us until next Christmas.
Also please refrain from telling me how many days
it is until Christmas.
I don't want to hear it!

Now when your telling me that your enjoying the fact that the days are getting longer.
That soon your cabin fever will be gone as your getting out from under, then Yes, tell me all about it.
Tell me about picking strawberries right from the fields of picking your own cherries and eating them
until it hurts and yes you know it will, as you won't stop eating until it does!
Until finally we girls will eat the ones we used for ear rings for awhile, love the feel of swinging them around eh?
When ever I do this I am telling myself to buy long ear rings knowing full well they don't look good on me. but I sooo
love the feel!
Tell me about the long warm sunny days when you can see daylight until 10 o'clock at night and you can enjoy being outdoors.
Going for long drives out into the country. Singing along with some music and wearing that perpetual grin because life on this side of pushing daisies is soooo good, you can taste it!
Inviting a few friends over for an barbecue.
Men think we women love barbies because THEY do All the work.
Oh please, stop for a minute as my tummy hurts too much from laughing.
All They do is fry the meat!
Would you like me to write you the list of what all the women do for this barbecue men?
Nah we won't, why spoil it for those creatures called men, let's leave them the illusion that we women had a day off.
For we all know how much They enjoy spoiling us don't we girl's?

Ohhhhhhh my friends those lazy days of summer may they never end.
Oh how many more days before all this fun will start? Now That you can tell me!

To begin with I do not agree that soo much Dutch is similair to German as I would be speaking German today.
Most of my music is German none is in Dutch. I listen to a special Dutch program send to me and frankly I can't stand it most of the time.
The war; I remember the words of a German soldier when I was only about 6 years "old; Ich habben de krieg nicht gewilt"
Sorry if spelled wrong.
The Dutch know very well it was not the common Germans, they have suffered also, but the Nazzies.

The Frisian language is spoken by all the Frisians living in the province of Friesland.
They are a fanatic bunch when it comes to keeping their Frisian language alive. All the traffic signs must be at least be bi-langual.

Thank you for all the info I find it very interesting.
handshake
